Gems from #hcsmca Meetup with Ed Bennett plus

May 4, 2011

Last night’s #hcsmca panel Q&A left us with many gems of wisdom from Ed Bennett, University of Maryland Medical Center; Dave Bourne, The Scarborough Hospital; Ann Fuller, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO); Madonna Gallo, Saint Elizabeth Health Care; and Scott Wolfe, Canadian Alliance of Community Health Centre Associations (CACHCA). (Speakers’ bios)

At the end of the hour panel discussion, Ed wrapped up the evening with this advice:

Enjoy this time right now because we’re all part of something that has just started up and it’s very exciting. In 4 or 5 years from now, the whole idea of having a social media group is going to sound as silly as having a group of people who love fax machines getting together to talk about the great ways you can use fax machines. That change is going to come. [Social media] is simply going to be the normal way [of communicating] — one of all the different options we have to talk to one another and share information. But I think the journey from here to that point is going to be a lot of fun.

Watch the event on Ustream to hear all the gems.

Special thanks to Kathy Kastner for moderating and Faisal Qureshi for recording the event.

What are your “gems” from the #hcsmca meetup?

What an innovative group. It was my first #hcsmca meetup and I am honoured to be amongst these forward thinking health care professionals.
